A video showing the interface of Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3 in action is on display on the IGN web site and is regarded as being an enhancement brought to the well-known PlayStation Portable user interface, featuring "a minimalistic look", as Gizmodo put it.

"The UI can also be called up while playing a game and shows up on screen as an overlay. According to Sony, the interface will also be user customizable. The video is just over 3 minutes long and goes through just about all of the feature/options available to the user. You can grab it over at Google Video," informs Gizmodo.

Furthermore, Sony officially confirmed the price cut for its previous gaming console - the PS2, which will retail at ?129.99 (?94.99) only in Europe. Also the cost for the Memory Card (8MB) will fall to ?19.99.

"With this attractive new price point and a vast portfolio of over 2,200 software titles including social gaming blockbusters such as EyeToy, SingStar and Buzz!, we believe there has never been a better time to join the community of PlayStation 2 users. At this new price point of ?129, the market leading PlayStation 2 should remain the computer entertainment system of choice for an even wider and more diverse audience for many years to come," said David Reeves.

The company didn't reveal if also the new PS2 coming in a Nintendo inspired 'noble pink' will have its price cut, but it did say that it will launch it in November, maybe on the same date the PS3 will emerge in Asia.
