A promise from the President of Sony Computer Entertainment

According to the recent statements made by Ken Kutaragy, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, the next gaming console made by the company, the PS3, will be able to run images at a staggering frequency of 120 frames per second. This is very impressive, but not very useful, because the human eye is used to distinguish natural movement starting with 25 frames per second.

Anyway, in order to have real proof of Kutaragy's promise, first we'll have to see a compatible TV set, which will be able to run images at the same or higher frequency.

Appearing at the Tokyo International Digital Conference on Thursday to talk about the technological capabilities of the PlayStation 3 and the Cell processor, Kutaragi found a perfect opportunity to brag about the PS3's and Cell processor's latest capabilities. Hearing that the Sony gaming console will be able of such high-quality performances, all gaming fans will probably take it as a standard from now on and expectations will leap forward once again.

Kutaragy didn't seem too upset with not having a display capable of showcasing the PS3's imaging capabilities, but just knowing that when that TV set arrives the console will be there to take advantage of its possibilities is enough.
