So says an insider

The gaming industry is filled with secrets, unannounced plans and ambitious but unrevealed projects. That's why there will always be rumors and speculations flying around the Internet and landing on related websites depending on how true they are or on what they focus on.

As the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is preparing to start next week, an inside source within Sony has revealed some very interesting aspects about the strategy of the large Japanese corporation and about what new things it will launch in the near future. Of course the biggest things are the new UMD-less PSP-Go!, which promises to lose the bulky UMD drive in favor of a digital download way of distributing games to users.

Set to be announced during this E3, the new portable device will be launched in retail stores at the beginning of fall, according to the source, and will be sold right alongside its older brother, the PSP-3000, which will still be present on the market for quite some time, with Sony not drawing its support from it just yet.

The other big piece of news is about the PlayStation 3 Slim, a newer and sleeker version of the bulky PS3, which seems to be all but confirmed by Sony. For those of you who don't know, images of a new PS3 package, branded PS3 Slim, with a thinner design, surfaced a few weeks ago. After those pictures were posted on various websites, Taiwanese lawyers contacted them and requested that they delete the files in question as they were trade secrets, which further fueled the speculation fire.

According to the reliable source, the PS3 Slim won't be announced at E3 as Sony is still waiting for normal PS3 stocks to be depleted and then ship the new product to retailers across the world in order for it to be marketed. A price cut may be made, but only when the stocks will be full so that it can be put into immediate action.

Overall, it seems that Sony will have a very busy E3 with some truly spectacular announcements. All we can do though is wait for the keynote speech that the Japanese company will hold at the conference next week.
