The Inquirer reported that at the Games Convention, Sony has been showcasing its PS3 without anyone being able to touch it, no word of testing it. The editors added that the secret ingredient, the excuse found by the marketing manager, may put out of sight the real problem - the PS3 is not ready and that there is a hardware components shortage.

This may pose a risk for the company, as everyone is expecting the big launch which is said to take place on November 17. And if the manufacturer decides to delay again the release date, its console may be surpassed even by Nintendo's Wii that is to be available starting December. Moreover, Microsoft will hit the market on November with its Xbox price cut and with its rumored Zune, a possible challenger also for the PS3.

"We had a chance to get within five inches of what Sony claims to be the final production prototype of the Playstation 3 console. We could even touch the wireless remote but the machine didn't work as Sony didn't want to plug it in. The marketing chap had the lamest excuse of them all, he said that Sony doesn't want to show the live demo as there is a hidden secret feature that Sony doesn't want to show off yet," informs The Inquirer.

A similar incident has been going on at another gaming dedicated event, when the game developers showcased their latest achievements on a fake PS3 that featured a powerful workstation hidden beneath the console's chassis.

If this is the case now, than Sony really has a problem.
