Matchmaking has been smoothed out, but the game also looks a bit better as well

While Rebellion's demo took some flak from the franchise's fans for delivering a very basic, simple gameplay with the Deathmatch mode, the developers responded by saying that this was the best solution they could come up with in order to get players accustomed to the controls in the title. While not necessarily hard, they are somewhat unintuitive, especially for the Predator, while running around with the Alien with the "Auto-Transition" mode on can cause even the most experienced seafaring adventurer to suffer from a bit of nausea.

But the people's cry didn't go unanswered, and some changes were made to the demo, or at least to the PlayStation 3 version of it. There were some rather serious problems with the matchmaking system, which pretty much rendered the demo useless, but this has been fixed by the new version that was put up on the PSN on Monday. But, surprisingly, some other changes have been made as well.

"The first iteration of the demo suffered matchmaking problems resulting in some players experiencing difficulties getting into matches. SEGA and Rebellion have worked closely with Sony to investigate and resolve the issue with this new demo," Rebellion said. The matchmaking problem seems to have been indeed fixed, with waiting time and general connectivity issues drastically cut, but there are modifications as well.

Overall, the title looks a bit more polished and acts better, with improvements apparently having been made to the in-game graphics and the user interface, and some of the more detail-weary players even picked up some improvements in character animation. However, there are some issues accompanying all the good things that the new demo brought as well.

The new version seems to cause some problems with the old one, and you can't just update it and get back in the game. The best way to go about playing the updated demo is to first delete the previous build that you have installed on your PS3 and make a fresh start by downloading the new one. Right now, the title has been officially released, so, if you haven't had time to pick it up yet, or you just weren't motivated enough to do so, this new demo for it should give a more accurate depiction of the full Aliens vs Predator game on the PS3.
