New DLC announced

A new update has been released for the PC version of Borderlands, the first person shooter/ Diablo cross-over developed by Gearbox and published 2K Games. The patch is meant to add Steam Achievements to the title. Curiously enough, this is the only Steamworks service Gearbox has decided to include in Borderlands, with others like Steam Cloud or Matchmaking still missing from the package.

There are a total of 70 achievements for the PC version of Borderlands now, as well as the downloadable content packs. 42 of these will unlock automatically when a save of the game is loaded, provided, of course, that the player has already managed to complete the action related to them. Gearbox recommends that at first a single player save to be loaded to be sure that all them unlock properly and without any errors. Another 12 can be gotten by traveling to the Borderlands' zones, while 16 are non-retroactive so they have to unlocked the traditional way.

The update also adds support for the LCD screens of the Logitech G13 gameboard and the Logitech G15 and G19 gaming keyboards. The monchrome screens of the G13 and G15 are now capable of displaying quests from the quest log and also eases access to one's friends list. They can checked upon and invited to a game directly using shortcuts on the peripherals. G19's color screen has a lot more information, though, with one's experience level and cash, full quest log, weapon proficiencies and a full friends list with invite capability available at all times.

In other Borderlands-related news, it seems that fourth pack of downloadable content is on its way, at least according to the out-spoken chief executive officer of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford. He recently twittered that, “I get a LOT of questions about more DLC for Borderlands. Yes, more is coming! T2 already said so! Let's talk soon.”
