The Order: 1886 is one of the PlayStation 4 titles that have been shrouded in mystery since initially announced, but now developer Ready at Dawn and publisher Sony are ready to offer more information on the action game that apparently stars Sir Galahad himself.

VG247 quotes information that the team has offered to Game Informer, which reveals a game world dominated by a long-running conflict between humans and a number of mythological beasts that are resulted from mutation.

Ready at Dawn says that, in the Dark Ages, humanity split in two groups because of an unexplained event. One section turned into monsters that are called half-breeds, which have increased power and special skills, but which lose their ability to control themselves.

King Arthur himself and his knights were the first to mount a solid defense in ancient Camelot and managed to discover a new substance called Black Water, which allowed them to age much slower, led to impressive healing capabilities and enhanced their ability to fight.

The conflict was a stalemate in the world of The Order: 1886 until the XIX century, when the Industrial Revolution started to give humanity the edge in combat.

Players will take on the role of Sir Galahad, who is sworn to protect the realm from the House of Lords in London.

Ready at Dawn is not creating a typical video game hero because the Knight of the Round Table is tired of his extended life and is no longer sure that he is doing the right thing by slaughtering half-breeds.

The studio is best known for its work on God of War and its new title will also use third-person active adventure mechanics, with an emphasis on spectacular combat.

The Order: 1886 will be launched on the PlayStation 4 at some point in 2014.
