Ready at Dawn's PlayStation 4 exclusive third-person shooter The Order: 1886 took the UK's top spot in video games sales.

The information comes from retail sales monitor Chart-Track, who revealed the top-selling games of last week earlier today, showing how the power of marketing and game-starved PS4 owners can make a game sell in spite of its length and mixed critical reception.

The debate regarding the length of the single-player campaign in The Order: 1886 has been done to death over the course of the last few months, with everything culminating in a player prematurely uploading the entirety of the game on YouTube, with the footage totaling around five and a half hours.

Its reviews have not been stellar either, being generally described as fantastic-looking but ultimately boring and trite, but in spite of everything, it seems like it's selling pretty well.

Ready at Dawn's previous experience includes PlayStation Portable hits Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, with The Order: 1886 marking the team's debut on the PS4.

This is also Sony's first in-house title to land a number one in the United Kingdom since the company released Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Remastered, back in August 2014.

The other games in the top

In second place we see Activision and Sledgehammer Games' futuristic military first-person shooter Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, still going strong.

2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios' asymmetrical multiplayer shooter noticed a sharp drop in sales from last week, falling to position number three, after having taken the crown last week.

Next up we have Ubisoft's Far Cry 4, the latest installment in the legendary open-world shooter series, that registered a bump in sales due to some retail promotions,

The usual suspects follow, in the form of Grand Theft Auto V, FIFA 15, and Minecraft, occupying position number 7 with the Xbox Edition, and number 9 with the PlayStation Edition.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, the 3DS exclusive title from Nintendo, sits at the eighth spot, with the top ten being closed off by Bungie's science fiction online first-person shooter, Destiny.

Capcom's Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate dropped to twelfth place from last week's fourth, and the week's new entries, Total War: Attila and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, managed to land at position 21 and 27, respectively.
