Ready at Dawn, the developer of upcoming PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886, confirms that work on the game actually started out back in 2005, but the studio had to wait for a powerful console like the PS4 to make it a reality.

The Order: 1886 is this year's first big PS4 exclusive and the third-person shooter is already looking quite good, thanks to impressive visuals, tight gameplay, and an intriguing story set in the Victorian London era.

The Order: 1886 started life 10 years ago

However, the concept grew inside the Ready at Dawn team around 10 years ago, as Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya tells BCA, via DualShockers, that he started writing the story for the title back in 2005. However, for the actual game development to start, the team had to wait until a console that was powerful enough to bring the world to life launched.

When the studio heard about the PS4 from Sony, the whole team knew that it was the proper home for The Order: 1886 and that it could ensure that its visuals lived up to the expectations of players and those of the developer.

Without a doubt one of the most interesting aspects of the new game refers to the visuals, which sacrifice the 60fps framerate for a 30fps one and more physics effects.

Ready at Dawn always wanted to make a third-person shooter

Weerasuriya also mentions that Ready at Dawn may have started out as a studio that focused on action games, bringing forth portable iterations in Sony's Jak and Daxter or the God of War franchises, but the main goal was always to make a third-person shooter.

As such, when the PS4 appeared, it found a perfect device onto which it could deliver the project and expand its development skills.

The game has already received plenty of actual gameplay sequences, showcasing the shooter mechanics and the many different weapons that can be wielded by the main characters.

Look forward to the release of The Order: 1886 onto the PS4 on February 20, worldwide.
