The Order: 1886, the brand new third-person shooter from Ready at Dawn that's coming exclusively to the PS4 console, can't be done on the PS3 or other old hardware because it features only high-resolution assets, advanced physics effects, and a realistic world, according to its developer.

The Order: 1886 is one of the big all-new intellectual properties coming to the PS4 this year, with Ready at Dawn finally breaking into the blockbuster triple-A segment after delivering the portable God of War experiences on the PSP and other platforms.

The game has been detailed on several occasions but now it's finally getting close to its release later this month.

Ahead of that time, Ready at Dawn's Ru Weerasuriya talks with BCA, via DualShockers, about the new shooter and how its visuals are on the cutting edge.

The game's graphics can't be done on PS3

First up, Weerasuriya emphasizes that The Order: 1886 can't be done on the PS3 or other, older hardware as it features not just great visuals but also huge sceneries that can't be rendered by the older platforms, only by the PS4.

He also reveals that there are no low-resolution assets or textures in the game, as everything is as detailed as possible. Ready at Dawn innovated in terms of physics, so that cloth and everything in the environment can be influenced by the wind.

Another big goal was to make the game's world as realistic as possible, and this meant a lot of research into what vehicles, such as airships, and buildings looked and felt like during the Victorian London era.

Expect plenty of stealth sequences

Weerasuriya also touches briefly on the stealth gameplay mechanic, confirming that all enemies can be killed by a simple stealth attack. These finishing moves differ depending on the environment and how you approach the enemy. However, expect lots of locations to make it very tricky to stay always in stealth or in cover.

The Order: 1886 launches only for the PS4 on February 20, worldwide.
