Nintendo has cut the price of the Nintendo DSi XL and the Nintendo DSi in Japan with the unveiling of the 3DS at E3 2010 being imminent. On top of that, three new DSi XL colors will be available in the Land of the Rising Sun, as Blue, Yellow and Green models will hit the store shelves on the 19th of June, 2010.

The DSi XL will go for the lower price of 18,000 yen, that is approximately 195 dollars, in contrast with 20,000 yen, about 220 dollars, as it was priced before. The price of the DSi also drops from 18,900 yen, meaning 200 dollars, to 15,000 yen, around 165 dollars.

Eurogamer reports that Nintendo of Europe will publish a statement soon announcing the plans it has for the continent. Many gamers are hoping that the company take the same measures as its parent corporation in Japan.

These announcements come as Nintendo is planning the official reveal of its new handheld console at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010, something that is known as the Nintendo 3DS at the moment. The main feature of this new device is its ability to produce 3D spatial effects without the need for special glasses.

The good news is that the Japanese gaming giant plans to let its fans have some hands-on time with the new gadget at E3, so we will soon know what the new platform is capable of.

Among other features of the 3DS, one can count backward compatibility with DS and DSi software, including games. Also, Nintendo wants to include in the final product some kind of a 3D controller and a force feedback system, as well as enhancements to the battery life and the wireless capabilities. The launch window is the fiscal year 2010, that is some time until the end of March 2011.
