Portability reinvented...

As part of the new iPod line, the Shuffle is as important as the other iPods when it comes to portability. Unlike the new iPod and nano models, which are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, the new Shuffle is totally new. Designed from the get-go with portability in mind, the new shuffle is incredibly small, and incredibly portable.

At nearly half the size of the original Shuffle, the new model is incredibly small, and because of its form factor it doesn't even look like a portable MP3 player. It is just half a cubic inch in volume, weighs just half an ounce and features a stunning all-new aluminum design and a built-in clip, which makes it the most wearable iPod ever. The previous two versions have been replaced by a single 1GB model that is very conveniently priced at $79.

"It's hard to believe the new iPod is a real music player when you first see it," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, in the press release. "But it is real, and holds up to 240 songs in an incredibly compact and wearable design that weighs just half an ounce."

There is a lot to be said about the new Shuffle, and all of it is good, the only drawback is that, because it now no longer has a built in USB adapter and relies on the dock, it can no longer double as a portable storage device.
