As Apple is planning to deploy its next-generation tower computer, the all-new Mac Pro, price quotes are beginning to crop up revealing just how expensive the system will be, especially when fully loaded.

A MacRumors report indicates that Apple will continue to charge a fortune for its Mac Pro workstations, especially when customers customize their orders with extra memory, storage, and processor speed. An excerpt can be found below.

“One Canadian forum member at FCP.co posted late last month that he had been quoted $9700 for a maxed-out Mac Pro with 1 TB flash storage, 64 GB of RAM, dual AMD FirePro D700 graphics, and a 12-core processor. Given Apple's current currency conversions, U.S. pricing should fall in the range of $9400-$9500, although that quote almost certainly incorporates a small discount made available to certain business customers.”

In other words, without the corporate discount, Apple will be charging as much as $10,000 (€7,254), and well over that figure in Europe, considering the discrepancies between the prices for Apple’s products in the two currencies.

A single user is nothing to go by, but MacRumors claims that its own forum members are singing the same tune. It appears that a base Mac Pro configuration will sell in the United States for $2,999 (€2,175).

Although the conversion to Euros takes the figure down a notch, as noted above the actual prices are sometimes higher for European customers, depending on how the currency fluctuates.

For example, an Apple TV sells for $99 in the States, whereas customers in Germany need to shell out €109 for the set-top box.

Apple currently says the new Mac Pro is coming in December. The computer features a number of innovations that will make it one of the most coveted productivity machines. Among those perks is a clever cooling system that uses a single fan to suck out the heat from the whole cylindrical box.
