It wasn't long ago when we found out that World of Warcraft could be actually made in Turkey. Even though, in a way, that is still true, the Russians are those who will have their own version of WoW. It will be the fifth official supported language in the game, English, French, German and Spanish versions being already available.

If you are asking yourself why Russia and no other country (and probably every person playing this game wants to have it in its own language), Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment explains:

"Considering the scale and enthusiasm of the Russian community, we recognized that offering a dedicated Russian-language version of World of Warcraft was the next important step for the game in Europe. We're looking forward to providing an even more accessible gameplay experience to current and future players."

This being said, we can tell you that a dedicated WoW Russian-speaking team is being assembled at the Blizzard Europe offices and they're working to get everything done on time, which is early 2008. This team will ensure that the Russian players benefit from the same quality of 24/7 native-language support as other European players and they will focus on in-game support, offline support and, among others, creation and maintenance of a Russian World of Warcraft website.

Further details on language pack downloads and migration plans for existing Russian players will be available in the near future, and we'll keep you up to date. Also, in order to keep pace with the multi-lingual European growth of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is currently hiring for numerous open positions. More information on available career opportunities at Blizzard Europe, including positions on the Russian team, can be found on Blizzard's official website. Happy WoW and... do svidaniya!
