Gadgets3D has announced its latest 3D printer, the G3D based on the RepRap Prusa i3 design. The device comes fully configured and as a complete package, and will become available in the next couple of weeks for $499 (€489 in Europe) for the basic package.

The G3D offers a 200x200x200 mm build volume and works with PLA, ABS, nylon, laybrick, and laywood, both in 1.75 mm and 3 mm filament sizes. The G3D hot end works with PLA and ABS and has a 0.4/0.5 mm nozzle. It also comes with fairly standard RAMPS 1.4 electronics and NEMA 17 stepper motors.

All the electronics come pre-configured and the hot end is pre-assembled. The kit ships with everything you need for a working printer.

It may be fairly standard, but Gadgets3D has a novel idea – it plans to offer the printer to schools for about half the price it's sold to regular customers, namely $245 (€181). The "3D printer in every school" program should be up and running by the end of the year.
