Nintendo has announced that it plans to release all the titles of the Metroid Prime series on a single disk for the Nintendo Wii. The product will be coming on August 24 and will be priced at 49.99 dollars. The first two titles of the trilogy, which were initially released for the GameCube, will be updated in order to use the controls of the Nintendo Wii.

Metroid Prime was initially released in November 2002 and quickly became a favorite for those who were interested in GameCube games. Its developer, Retro Studios, put together a sequel that was out in November 2005 under the name of Echoes. The series then moved to the Nintendo Wii as Corruption was released in August 2007, with fans expressing some worries over the fact that the game moved to a first person perspective.

Cammie Dunaway, who is the vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America, stated that “Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever. A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love.”

Nintendo is saying that all the games will be easily accessible via a single unified menu and that, as the games are completed, players will earn achievements and in-game rewards applied across the entire series. Fans will be happy to know that even if the controls are updated, the core mechanics of each of the three Metroid installments will be left alone so the games will play exactly the same as they did when they were initially released. So, hardcore Metroid fans need only to wait until August to get their hands on the new Metroid bundle.
