Work with the world to find out what’s inside the cube

Curiosity, the first of 22 experiments from the legendary designer Peter Molyneux, is out for iPhone and iPad. A block-breaking game that holds a life-changing mystery at its literal core, Curiosity is as much cooperative as it is competitive.

Install Curiosity now on your iDevice and you’ll instantly join thousands (soon to be millions) of people worldwide to simultaneously chip away at each layer of a giant cube.

Each completed layer holds a nice surprise, while the absolute core tucks away a life-changing secret, according to developer 22Cans.

“Deep in the centre of the cube is something life-changingly amazing, but only the first person to reach the centre will discover what’s inside,” says the company.

The game system is, in essence, a contest between all the players in the world. You tap to peel out the crust of one layer that everyone sits on until the last block of that layer is destroyed.

You earn coins for chipping away at the cube in a fast and rhythmic manner. You can then spend your hard-earned cash on new destructive tools that can do far more damage than your humble thumbs.

“The more you chip away, the more powerful you become,” says 22Cans.

You make beautiful music as you tap the boxes, and you can experiment with creating text and pictures chipping shapes into the surface of the cube.

Having tested it ourselves, we can confirm that Curiosity is truly awe-inspiring.

“Each layer of the cube holds something unique for the world to reveal […] This is the first of 22 experiments from the legendary designer Peter Molyneux,” according to the developers. The contest rules can be found in-app.

Curiosity is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. It requires iOS 4.3 or later and works full-screen on the iPhone 5.
