Here are the highlights from an open-air festival in Russia

It might seem like only yesterday that we saw the first 3D printed dress, which was made of nylon, but fashion has been using 3D printing technology a lot more since then.

Case in point, during the Geek Picnic 2014 open-air festival held recently in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, fashion designers presented everything from 3D printed clothes to shoes and accessories.

No wonder there was a whole section of the festival dedicated to this type of fashion, called “3D Print Fashion Show.”

In the gallery you'll see several snippets of the highlights during the exhibition, like headliners designed by Joshua Harker, from America. He's actually considered pretty important in the rising field of 3D printed art and culture.

Art designer Larisa Katz also contributed (her work has been featured in shows held in many other cities and countries), as did Pia Hinze (her specialty is combining traditional art with futuristic elements).

We'll sit back now and let you enjoy (or boggle at) the pictures and a very short video of the male headdress made of undulating nylon swirls and circles. Strange stuff that, but I will reiterate that weirder things have happened in human history.

It's really ironic that few, if any, of these designs will ever actually be worn in public by people. Then again, that goes for 90% of all pieces revealed at fashion shows.
