The development team at Naughty Dog announces that it is deploying live update 1.01.012 for the Remastered version of The Last of Us, which the studio says will improve matchmaking times on the PlayStation 4, but does not offer a full fix for the issues that players have been reporting since launch.

The company states on Twitter that it is still working on more updates in order to make sure that the experience is the best they can offer.

Naughty Dog explains that “We are still working on a patch which should dramatically improve matchmaking times and we'll get into more detail about that a bit later. Also, in this live update is a fix to the Flamethrower damage. The PS4 Flamethrower should now output damage at the same speed as the PS3 Flamethrower.”

The company is also encouraging all players of The Last of Us on the PlayStation 4 to quit Factions and then log in and describe the matchmaking times in order to make sure that the changes implemented are working.

Naughty Dog has been accused of not taking the multiplayer issues of the Remastered version seriously, but the company claims that it is doing all it can at the moment.

It explains that the programmers are “completely re-writing some very complex code that has to be implemented into a patch which takes time to test and go through submission. We are working as fast as possible to get this patch out to you guys so I want to thank you all ahead of time for being patient. I’ll update you guys as soon as I learn about a timeline for release.”

The Last of Us Remastered on the PlayStation 4 includes all the content that was ever launched on the PS3 version of the title and also has improvements to gameplay and graphics.

Naughty Dog has also suggested that it might be working on another piece of downloadable content that will enhance the multiplayer side of the game, which might arrive before the end of the year.

At the moment, the core development resources at the studio are being re-directed towards Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, but the company has a good relationship with its fan base and that means it will probably fix multiplayer as best as it can.

The new Uncharted title is set to be launched on the PlayStation 4 at some point in 2015 and will be the final title which will use Nathan Drake as the main character.
