The Last of Us, the title created by developer Naughty Dog and published by Sony, has managed to keep the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the sixth consecutive month.

The achievement of the post-apocalyptic title, which has been lauded for the scope and the tone of its narrative and emotion, is even more impressive given the fact that it is only available on the PlayStation 3 home console.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, the indie hit from Marcus Persson aka Notch, is in second place this week, once more showing that a small title can get a big following on home consoles as long as it innovates and has access to constant updates.

It has managed to climb up three positions from fifth.

The last position of the podium is unchanged for the week that ended on July 20, according to data from UKIE, with Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros. also generating solid sales.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, from Nintendo, is in fourth place, slowly sliding down the chart and the first new entry for the current week is Dynasty Warriors 8 from Koei, which has only managed to launch in fifth place.

Far Cry 3, the open world first-person shooter that launched late in 2012, is in sixth place, showing the strength of the design choices made by Ubisoft, while Max Payne 3, another shooter from last year, has managed to re-enter the top ten in the United Kingdom in seventh place.

The Legendary version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which includes all the launched DLC for the game, is in eight place and FIFA 13 seems to be finally losing Steam and now sits in ninth place.

The United Kingdom top ten is now closed down by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
