Possibly the last winter for PS2

The PlayStation 2 is quite a survivor, since, after dominating year after year the console market, it saw the launch of the next gen consoles, along with its bigger brother, the PlayStation 3. Although everybody thought that in a couple of months, a year tops, the once mighty consoles would become obsolete, it turns out they were wrong, with the PS2 managing quite decent sales in the period after the next gen consoles hit the market.

It fought a good fight, but it would now seem that this winter season may be the last one for it, because the newest bundle announced by Sony, with two games, Lego Batman and Justice League: New Frontier, is going to be among the last to come alongside the PS2.

While not much is known about the Justice League game, except that the characters will be the mighty superheroes of the DC Comics universe, like Superman, Batman or Green Lantern, Lego Batman, developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros, on the other hand is getting a pretty decent hype going. Like all the games already featured in the Lego universe, like Star Wars or Indiana Jones, the characters and environments will be completely made out of Lego parts. The game promises a wide range of playable characters, from the one mentioned in the title, Batman, to the likes of Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman, or even villains like the Joker or Penguin.

Although this might be the last meaningful bundle for the PS2, it will definitely attract customers with the low price of 149 dollars. Looking back, it's been a truly great experience with the PS2; from the first games that were ported from the first PlayStation to the huge game library that exists today, it's been one great ride. Sony should really honor this console, which single-handedly brought huge profits to the Japanese company, and not let it just fade away.
