The pure-blood clone

While Garrus might have been recruited to hold my hand for the rest of the Mass Effect 2 game, I really wanted to see what Wrex's follower would be like, so I decided to head towards the Krogan as a second recruitment. I was also rather intrigued to understand that the Krogan that Cerberus sent me after wasn't really a warrior, as much as a Krogan could not be a warrior. Apparently, Okeer was more of a scientist, one that wanted to build a clone army. Of Krogans that is, not of Jango Fet.

As you could have expected from the mission in which you recruit the Krogan, things are pretty straightforward. At the research site, for some reason, Krogan clones are running rampant, tearing apart the Blue Suns mercenary lines. While we will have to make our own path through the Krogan berserkers at one point, most of our fight will be against the Blue Suns, which, even if they don't have any formidable units, they are pretty well positioned on the map and can make the fights a living hell, especially since the narrow ledges of the map don't allow multiple paths and thus any real flanking opportunities. You don't really die, since they don't inflict a lot of damage, but you get pinned down a lot and it makes the battles feel really gruesome.

Reaching Okeer, we find out that he's breeding an army for the Blue Suns mercenary gang, and the war that waged on the research site is more akin to a difference in opinions. The leader of the Blue Suns mercenaries complains that the Krogans Okeer build are incomplete, flawed, insane, while Okeer claims merely that the Blue Suns are not strong enough to control his clones. But since we just punched a hole all the way to Okeer, clearing both mercenary and clone resistance, Jadore, the mercenary leader, takes this opportunity to vent gas into the lab, in an attempt to stop Okeer and the Krogan rampage.

The whole point of our mission was to recruit Okeer, so Jadore trying to off him doesn't vibe well with us at all. The boss fight at the end of the mission is a difficult one, but, to my surprise, Jadore wasn't the most dangerous enemy we had to face. Besides an YMIR Mech that guards her, Jadore releases wave after wave of Krogans, thus attacking us on three different fronts.

Since they're the most aggressive ones, the best way to deal with the fight is to let the Krogans come to you, box them in between your team mates and, after that, send your team against the YMIR, which gives you a one-on-one with Jadore. When the fight finally ends, to your disappointment, you return to the lab to see Okeer dead. But the Warlord didn't die for nothing, as he left behind his master creation: the pure Krogan, the biggest and meanest member of Mass Effect 2's "Team Shepard".
