On either PCs or Macs

Remote controlling one's iTunes software, now that's a dream come true. Or that's what the people over at Keyspan thought when they've developed their new version of the TuneView remote control, since this little wireless device has received some important upgrades that will certainly make life a lot easier for the many users of Apple's suite.

Thus, the company has just announced the immediate availability of their new TuneView remote control, which provides such features as a color LCD screen and, more importantly, an iPod-like user interface that will help people browse and control iTunes music, videos, radio and podcasts from up to 150 feet (45 meters) away. Moreover, the device offers quite a high level of versatility, as it works with Apple's AirPort Express, Xitel's Hi-Fi Link and other products that connect audio output from a PC-based music server to the audio inputs on an AV receiver or multi-room audio system.

Actually, the people over at Keyspan consider this thing to be exactly what the iTunes needed. "TuneView provides the missing piece to the PC music server puzzle," explained Mike Ridenhour, president at Keyspan. "There have been many ways to feed sound from iTunes to a stereo system, but there has never been an effective and affordable way to control iTunes from anywhere in your house."

And Mr. Ridenhour might have a point, as the TuneView provides quite a number of interesting features. Thus, besides the LCD display mentioned above, the device also features a 10-button keypad and emits on the 2.4 Ghz radio frequency, which might prove to be quite a problem, since there are quite a lot of other appliances that share this particular frequency. However, it also works through walls and furniture and supports the English, French, German and Spanish languages.

The new Keyspan TuneView remote control has a MSRP of 149 US dollars and is currently being shipped towards the most important retailers across the US, but it will also be available worldwide, either directly through Keyspan's online store or via the authorized resellers.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
