If the name Kirby Dick doesn't ring a bell, then you should probably know that he's the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed 2006 documentary “This Film Is Not Yet Rated.” He's back with another one.

“The Invisible War” will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2012 and, in anticipation of said release, it already got a brand new trailer.

The docu attempts to tackle a very painful and, until now, well kept secret: women in the US military are more likely to be abused by a fellow soldier than they are to be killed in the line of fire.

“Focusing on the powerfully emotional stories of several young women, the film reveals the systemic cover up of the crimes against them and follows their struggles to rebuild their lives and fight for justice,” the synopsis of the film says.

However, “Invisible War” doesn't just present the drama of the women involved, many of whom never saw their assailants punished in the slightest: it also dares to venture to offer a possible solution to the epidemic.

As noted above, the film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where, because of its painful subject matter and the controversial terrain it steps onto, is bound to cause serious waves.
