One of the most popular puzzlers ever to be released on any platform, Cut the Rope has arrived in the Mac App Store with a five-dollar price tag (3.99 EUR), and a whopping 250 levels to keep you busy for months.

“A mysterious package has arrived, and the little monster inside has only one request… CANDY!,” reads the description of Cut the Rope for Mac OS X. “The long-awaited hit game Cut the Rope has finally arrived in the Mac App Store!”

The game’s objective remains unchanged – players must slash the ropes to release the bundles into Om Nom’s mouth. To unlock new levels, players must also collect shiny cold stars, as they keep their companion’s appetite satisfied.

Some of the key features listed by ZeptoLab include: 250 levels and 10 level boxes; innovative gameplay mechanics; realistic physics; cute character (Om Nom is indeed cute, there’s no doubt about it); outstanding graphics; achievements and leaderboards; and constant free updates with new levels.

The OS requirement listed on the Mac App Store is Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard. Unfortunately, that’s incorrect. The Mac App Store itself requires at least Mac OS X 10.6.6, Snow Leopard, and, since the desktop version of Cut the Rope is a Mac App Store-exclusive download, the binary won’t run on a Leopard machine.

In light of their game’s debut on the Mac App Store, ZeptoLab’s chief executive officer, Misha Lylin, said he was hopeful that the puzzler would appeal to Mac gamers.

“We’re thrilled to bring Cut the Rope and Om Nom to MacOS users,” said Misha Lylin, CEO, ZeptoLab. “Because many of the original levels were adapted or completely remade to suit the experience associated with desktop games, the MacOS version of Cut the Rope is truly unique,” he revealed.
