Hungarian developer Neocore Games has released a new video for their upcoming action role-playing game The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II, detailing some of the new features in the series' second installment.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing is based on Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula, allowing players to step into the shoes of the fabled demon hunter Van Helsing and purge the fantasy kingdom of Borgovia from nefarious influences.

The game also features a heavy steampunk vibe, offering a unique mix of magic and technology and a wide array of options when it comes to dispatching both the natural and preternatural enemies of Borgovia.

The developers have been steadily providing information on the upcoming sequel, detailing some of the improvements they plan to make as well as the completely new gameplay mechanics that will be added to the game.

Previous reveals covered upgrades to Lady Katarina, the ghastly and snarky companion, the Chimera, a new fearsome companion that will be able to perform missions in the Ink on its own, the improved lair mechanics, some of the new environments player will be able to explore and the new mysterious ally, known only as Prisoner Seven.

The new video sheds some light on runecrafting, a new addition to the legendary monster hunter's arsenal that allows players to either create new items or boost the stats on their equipment by using runes obtained through the dismantling of various in-game items.

Runecrafting comes as a supplement to the already existing Forging, permitting the creation of different items in order to keep crafting viable throughout the endgame content and to give dedicated player something to look forward to.

The system will use fragments obtained by taking an item apart, the exact number of which is determined by factors such as the rarity of the item and its features. There are two types of fragments, a base one that depends on the rarity of the item taken apart and an enchantment fragment type that is based on the very essence which gave the former item power.

Players will have to collect all ten pieces of each type of Fragment in order to turn them into either an Enchantment or a Master Rune. The same rune can be used multiple times in order to max out the enchantment bonus, and the system will be available for those who complete a special quest, at which time a certain NPC will provide runecrafting options.

Although there is still no definitive date for The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II yet, the team has scheduled the very first live streaming event for the upcoming game on March 6 at 11 Am PST / 19:00 GMT, on Neocore Games' Twitch channel.
