High Voltage has announced that its upcoming The Grinder is set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony in addition to the Nintendo Wii, for which its was already confirmed. The game was initially announced when High Voltage was constituted as a company and should have arrived exclusively for the Wii sometime this year but now the release window is being announced as Halloween 2011.

Eric Nofsinger, who is the Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage, told IGN in an interview that the newly announced decision of going multiplatform was not just a move to grab a wider audience for The Grinder but also “allows us to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers.” At the moment, the company does not have a publisher for the title but undoubtedly High Voltage is talking to a variety of companies about offering it to the gaming public.

The Grinder is a first person shooter set in an alternate universe where humanity has been living along so-called mythical creatures, like werewolves, vampires and zombies. They are threatening the very existence of civilization and four different characters are being tasked by a shadowy organization called Book to exterminate as many of the creatures as possible while also discovering where they come from and what is behind their assaults.

Each of the characters will have a very different personality and will develop their abilities as the game progresses. Boss monsters will be encountered throughout The Grinder and strategies involving all of them will be needed to take them down.

The Grinder was confirmed as using Wii Motion Plus on the Nintendo Wii and will be built using the Quantum3 engine although it’s not clear whether the game will look the same on the other platforms as on the Nintendo one.
