Tale of Tales has recently made available a simple, yet captivating video game called "The Graveyard." Mac owners can download a demo version of this unique experimental game right now. The full version costs a mere 5 bucks. Pick up your cane and start walking down the alleys of The Graveyard.

It is a very short computer game designed by Auriea Harvey and Micha?l Samyn. You play an old lady who visits a graveyard. You walk around, sit on a bench and listen to a song. "It's more like an explorable painting than an actual game," says Tale of Tales. "An experiment with realtime poetry, with storytelling without words."

As noted above, Mac owners can download a demo version of the game right now, while the full version of The Graveyard costs $5. What's interesting is that the payed version of the game adds but one extra feature - the possibility of death. The full version of the game is exactly the same as the trial, except, every time you play the old lady may die.

System requirements call for Mac OSX, Intel or PPC processor, with Radeon or GeForce video card (G5, iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook Pro)Windows PC, XP or Vista with Radeon or GeForce video card (no integrated graphics).

Navigating is done with keyboard controls, but you can very well control the old lady using a joystick, according to tale-of-tales.com.

You know how video game descriptions go, right? "Players are thrown in the shoes of a ancient warrior/advanced robot/alien" and so on, right? Who'd want to hear "prepare to embark on a journey through the alleys of a small graveyard, as an old lady with a cane"? The answer: not your average gamer. A Mac user, however, just might.

The Graveyard is a video game supported by VAF (the Flanders Audiovisual Fund)

The Graveyard demo is available right here. The payed version can be acquired here.
