Developers wanting to create something on the Google+ platform have to wait some more

Plenty of developers have been waiting for a chance to integrate Google+ features into their apps or build apps entirely on the Google+ platform. While Google has said that an API is in the works, it seems that it won't be available to most developers for several more months.

Google hasn't given a timeline for when the Google+ API will be available to developers, but TechCrunch managed to get some info from a Google+ developer, who says that a launch is still several months away.

What this means is that anyone wanting to integrate Google+ in some way will have to wait. There are some unofficial solutions for getting Google+ data, but they're hardly ideal.

Google has said that Google+ is in the early stages, when it launched and that there are still plenty of things to be done. Indeed, some pretty big components, the API included, are missing at this point.

Another major request from plenty of companies and websites has been brand pages. Google+ has no support for non-human entities, but has said that it's working on revealing its take on Facebook Pages.

The same goes for the API, developers have been clamoring for it ever since it became obvious that Google+ would be a success, or at least it won't go down burning like Google's previous ventures in the social web space.

But Google is nowhere near ready to launch an official API, it seems. There has been some progress though, it recently unveiled its Games section, featuring several games from select developers.

These developers however, have worked directly with Google to get the games working on the Google+ platform, but the company is not enabling gaming companies to sign up and have their games debut on Google+ just yet.
