Samsung challenges Apple

I've surfed the Internet for one real and powerful iPod challenger, but I just couldn't find one that would fit the description until today? Samsung comes with its K5 Digital Audio Player, which is an ultimate Flash-based MP3 player with a pretty big 1.7inch OLED screen, a sleek one-button design and no less than 30 hours of playback time.

But if you thought that the K5 is called the real iPod slayer only for those capabilities, you are extremely wrong, as this little baby sports a revolutionary design that features a built-in slide-out speaker system. More precisely, you will be able to slide-out the little speaker panel and listen to some good music and also disturb the neighbors.

Therefore, your solitary and totally boring 'music listening experience' is over, because Samsung's K5 offers two small clear speakers built right into the sleek design, which are based on "a revolutionary technology that delivers better sound than anything you would expect could fit in your pocket," it is said in press release. But if you want to isolate yourself from the outer world, you can seize the pact with a set of ear buds that are provided along with the player.

"Samsung is continuously looking for unique opportunities to broaden the scope of consumer benefits in our portable digital audio category," said Matt Durgin, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Digital Media Products, Samsung Electronics America. "In addition to offering consumers the freedom to choose their music service, Samsung added a built-in speaker to eliminate the bulky add-ons or extra wires once needed to share the listening experience with their families and friends."

You can also create you own slideshow that will also have your favorite song as a background. You just have to press a button and adjust a setting and it will be on the screen almost instantly. The K5 supports consumer's existing MP3 collection or popular subscription services such as Napster, Rhapsody, Yahoo, and Urge, so you can easily play their content transferred from a PC. The K5 also features a built-in FM radio tuner and supports MP3, WMA, WMA DRM10 and JPEG formats.

Samsung's K5 will be available on September 10th at $209 for the 2GB version and at $259 for the 4GB one.
