The movie seeks to bring new comedy to the superhero genre

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is Marvel's next big project and right from the start it promised much. It had a good story, a nice cast and now, that the first trailer has come out, it has yet another ace up its sleeve – comedy.

The trailer is packed full of gags, be they visual or conversational and doesn't take itself seriously for one second. Think of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” as the anti-Avengers.

Whereas those characters are self-aware, serious and awe-inspiring, the Guardians are the exact opposite: mischievous, gritty and, most of all, laugh-out-loud funny.

We get a good look at all the characters, who are presented to us in all their splendor in jail. Each brings to the team a unique set of skills and a back story. But that doesn't impress the prison warden who's in charge of taking care of them. He dismisses them as “a bunch of A-holes.”

When's the last time you heard the main characters of a movie introduced like that? The trailer gets bonus for showing a scene of a mad raccoon firing rockets while riding his huge plant friend in jail on the song “Hooked on a Feeling.”
