It synchronizes the frame rate with the texture fill rate of the video card

There are many issues that can arise when launching a game if your monitor isn't up to scratch, or if your video card isn't adjusted for its needs. Or even if the graphics settings are too high. Acer has unveiled a monitor that sidesteps some of those problems.

Sure, you'll still have to adjust the visual settings of your games if you don't have the best hardware in the world, but at least screen tearing and latency won't be a problem anymore.

Assuming you use an NVIDIA graphics card that is. You see, the new monitor is an Acer creation featuring the NVIDIA G-Sync module. In fact, it is the first UHD monitor to have this technology.

Measuring 28 inches in diagonal, the display syncs the refresh rate to the GPU, making sure that screen tearing and display stutter don't happen. Input lag will also be a thing of the past.

Normally, you would have to forcefully enable the V-Sync feature in windows in order to make this happen, but latency would be massive.

With G-Sync, however, scenes appear instantly and even visual quality will be better than ever.

3840 x 2160 pixels resolution and G-Sync aren't the only unusual advantages of the Acer XB280HK gaming monitor though.

There's a stable power supply too, brought about by the flicker-free technology. With no flicker, you can sit in front of a screen for longer periods without your eyes suffering strain or fatigue.

If this were a business monitor, we'd say that flicker-free technology lets you spend late night going over spreadsheets and finishing work projects.

As it is, Acer made the XB280HK a gaming monitor, meaning that the extra endurance given to you by the flicker-free will let you spend full nights shooting the life out of your virtual opponents in shooters, or beating them in strategy or MOBA games. Or you can just go for a long movie marathon.

Anyway, flicker isn't the only annoyance dealt with by Acer. The company also gave the XB280HK a low dimming technology, which can reduce brightness to 15% of the total if the room is dark. This both saves power and further eases the strain on your eyes.

Finally, the ComfyView technology is really just a fancy name for the anti-glare display. It reduces reflections of light sources, the sun included.

The Acer XB280HK has 170/170 degree viewing angles and four USB 3.0 ports in addition to video inputs and the ErgoStand (tilt from -5° to 35°, 120° rotation and 150mm height adjustment). Sadly, the price of this Energy Star-qualified, 4K G-Sync monitor hasn't been disclosed.
