The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is taking a closer look at Miley Cyrus' “Bangerz Tour Special” that aired on July 4 on NBC, because of complaints received from viewers. The Commission is now trying to determine if the show was in violations of its rules for broadcast indecency or profanity.

If you're a regular reader of this column, you'll know that Miley Cyrus gets ticks in both boxes with her latest show which has been cataloged as indecent and outrageous. It seems that, while on stage, Miley is trying (and often succeeding) to push the boundaries of social acceptance for pop stars which is, in our modern society, already very far along.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that new complaints have been filed with the FCC regarding Miley's appearance on another segment on NBC, following her concert, which showed fireworks that weekend.

The special aired on July 6, so two days after the initial concert, and audiences didn't like what they saw on TV. It's not clear what the complaints were about, but it more than likely had something to do with Miley's outrageous behavior on stage, with her risqué outfits and with her often foul language.

One viewer had issues with the fact that, in the special which was taped from her performances in Barcelona and Lisbon earlier this year, Miley appeared on stage, grinding on a man who wore an Abraham Lincoln mask.

Another viewer complained that the PG-13/ TV-14 rating the show got was not in accordance with the material depicted. This rating allowed Miley's show to bypass his TV filter and meant that his children could watch it in full.

The person in question seemed pretty peeved “This was jokingly rated as PG-13/TV-14 and that simply cannot be correct. Miley Cyrus these days needs to be rated either MA [...], and nothing of hers should now or ever be aired during any time prior to 12:00 am in whatever time zone her smut is scheduled to air.”

The people demanded that proper punishment must be given to the offenders, “I am offended, appalled and ready to start taking public action to remove this garbage from our televisions. You MUST severely fine and censure both the 'artist' and the television station IMMEDIATELY!”

Experts from the industry are now speaking up after the incident and claiming that NBC was well aware of the risks but decided to televise the event any way, as a means of getting ratings. Sadly for the network, Miley's special drew modest ratings that didn't justify taking those risks.

Depending on the outcome of the FCC investigation, NBC could stand to lose more than rating in their gamble, as a fine could be added as a punitive measure.
