Bethesda has revealed some of its plans regarding upcoming DLC content for The Evil Within, scheduled to start popping up in early 2015.

The first of the planned DLC is titled The Assignment, and it will focus on Juli Kidman, Detective Castellanos' partner.

The second part of her story, titled The Consequence, will be released later on, followed by The Keeper, the final downloadable piece of content for the horror survival game.

In The Keeper, players will step into the shoes of the eponymous character, also known as Boxman.

The first installment in the two-part story arc of Juli Kidman was teased on the official The Evil Within Twitter account, and detailed on publisher Bethesda's blog.

The game director for both The Assignment and The Consequence, Tango Gameworks' John Johanas, offered some additional information regarding the upcoming content, but failed to mention one crucial aspect.

The game was about nothing, in the sense that not many people understood what was really going on, which is fine if you're a "Lost" fan but bad if you like experiences beyond jump scares and stuff being weird for its own sake.

The upcoming three pieces of DLC are likely to raise even more questions than they will actually answer, which is bad news for everyone who is in the habit of cursing at the TV screen whenever someone in "The Walking Dead" makes a bad decision for mystical reasons, which is pretty often.

The Assignment

Hailing from the school of thought that art's main function is to make you ask yourself about the world, and not to deliver answers for the questions you already have, The Evil Within managed to confuse people to a higher degree than a tesseract.

It ends without really ending, but it offers a satisfying experience, and many people are wondering what's next. Juli Kidman's story is pretty enigmatic during the game, and playing as her will clear the fog when it comes to many of the particularities of Ruvik and STEM, but some mysteries will still remain open-ended.

Johanas mentioned some of the expansions / DLCs that left a mark on him and influenced his work, mainly due to being works that offer players a new spin on gameplay but still maintain a close link to the main title.

He listed Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall / The Brigmore Witches, Enslaved: Pygsy's Perfect 10, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction as the most influential post-launch pieces of content he had experienced.

He also stated that two of the biggest areas of inspiration when it comes to The Evil Within were Chapter 5, where the horror element was at its strongest, and Chapter 9, where you solved puzzles and uncovered past stories.

The three downloadable content packs will be released over the course of 2015.
