The mod uses the modern game engine to revisit the old universe

One of the main strengths of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, apart from its huge immersive world and the freedom it gave you, was its extensive modding flexibility and the huge, supportive community mod efforts gathered.

Two years after its launch, the game is still going strong, having people brag about the hundreds of hours they put into the game and still working on mods to add tons of new content, ranging from different armor skins to whole new areas, dungeons, quests and challenges.

Interested players should head over to NexusMods, where the list of mods is thoroughly indexed and easy to search through.

The Nexus has just gone through a complete overhaul, and now features a centralized database open to mods for all PC games, so feel free to browse to your heart's content.

One such mod, Skywind, uses the powerful features of Skyrim to offer the content of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in a more up-to-date manner.

Both a licensed copy of Skyrim and Morrowind (including the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions) are required in order for the mod to work, as pirated copies won't work, warns GameInformer.

Certain elements are not present in the mod (crafting, smithing) as of yet, and the skill system has been altered to fit the Skyrim model, but the armor system has been implemented to mirror the original one in Morrowind.

Once the Skywind mod is complete, the community will start updating Oblivion in pretty much the same way, taking advantage of the modern game engine of Skyrim.

A yet incomplete version is available for download on the Morroblivion community website, for those of you who would still like to try it out.

An interesting thing to note is the increasing support modding communities receive from developers, and the recent trend of allowing users to generate content and play through other players’ creations, which is seen in some new productions like Neverwinter.

This trend of allowing communities to generate more content will most likely continue to escalate, especially as far as PC titles are concerned.
