Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios confirm that, ahead of the release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited on PS4 and Xbox One on June 9, a special closed beta is going to kick off tomorrow, April 23, and end on Monday, April 27.

The Elder Scrolls Online was supposed to appear last year on PC, Mac, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. However, developer Zenimax decided to postpone the debut of the console versions of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game in order to better focus on the PC and Mac editions while optimizing the experience for other platforms.

Since then, the game has gone through many different changes, the biggest one being its transformation into Tamriel Unlimited, as it eliminated the necessity of a monthly subscription, allowing anyone who owns the game free access to most of its content.

A closed beta is coming to consoles for The Elder Scrolls Online

Now, as we get closer to the release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda confirm on the official website that a special closed beta is going to debut tomorrow, April 22.

More specifically, at 3pm BST until 3pm BST on Monday, April 27, the North American and European megaservers for the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online will be available. Only those who signed up for the beta are going to participate, and not even all of them, as Zenimax mentions that it only wants a portion of fans to enter the beta, in order to avoid any technical issues.

Invitations are already being sent out to fans, so look forward to a notice in your email inbox to see if you can enter the closed beta. Zenimax emphasizes that the full game will be available during this test period, but unfortunately, it's going to wipe any progress before the full game launches, so you can't pick up from where you left off.

There's no non-disclosure agreement, meaning you can stream and share impressions about the closed beta and no cross-platform play between PS4 and Xbox One.
