A home appliance like nothing you've seen before

I don't know what's with technology designers and eggs lately, but it seems that the "creative minds" around the world think pretty much in the same way. As you've probably read yesterday (and if you haven't, you should really check out this article), a couple of companies have launched several MP3 players with an important common feature: they were all egg-shaped. However, while this form factor might suite such a range of devices (at least to some point), I'm quite sure you have never imagined seeing a home appliance that borrowed the same shape. Neither did I, until I came across this nifty little thing, namely the Eggo washing machine developed by the Brazilian company Brastemp.

As the CoolHunting website informs us, this uncanny device has been designed by Jun Nakao, a fashion design professor who had previously helped the company develop the aesthetics of a mini-fridge. The result? Well, you can see it in the photo, but I'll just have to mention that the machine (which, at least from one perspective, resembles very well my own breakfast) has a brilliant white color and sports a couple of sturdy, built-in legs that prevent it from toppling over.

Now, leaving the design aside, let's see what this thing can actually do. The Eggo washing machine is meant to be used solely with delicate laundry and in order to keep their quality intact it uses an ozone cleaning system. According to the manufacturers, this ozone system works much better than chlorine, as it disinfects and cleans without leaving behind that awful smell.

However, the Eggo is far from being a high-capacity washer. Thus, it can accommodate just one kilo of clothing at a time, but it can be carried out very easily, at it measures just around 460 mm x 320 mm x 329 mm, at an overall weight of just 6 kilos. Unfortunately, the company's website doesn't provide an actual price tag, but this thing is so interesting and odd-looking that it will surely prove to be quite popular with consumers.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
