For its privacy improvements

Following the recent concerns about the Google privacy, the Mountain View company was urged to roll out some improvements and modify the privacy guidelines available for the clients. After numerous changes were already applied, the EU Commission sustained that Google evolved well and there are signs of a huge improvement. As you might know, the Mountain View company was placed on the last position in a top concerning the users' privacy. However, Google tried to resolve this issue by reducing the period of the anonymizing process from 24 months to 18 months, allowing users to become anonymous quicker than before.

"It is indeed a good step, I have appreciated the commitment of Google not only to meet our expectations in terms of protection of privacy or better on cutting the time and reducing the time of retention of personal data," EU justice chief Franco Frattini said according to Seattle Post Intelligencer.

As you might know, the Mountain View company announced its plans to replace several strings from the logs such as Ips and other users' details after a certain period of time. Yesterday, the company's official announced that this period was reduced to 18 months but some countries might demand them to expand it to 24 months as the laws require it.

"There is tremendous confusion in legal circles across Europe on these issues. "Both individuals and companies would benefit from greater clarity from authorities responsible for the (EU) Data Retention Directive to answer these very fundamental questions," the EU official added.

It's very important to benefit from strong guidelines imposed by the Mountain View company. Meanwhile, Google strives to improve them and increase the privacy of the users although numerous companies are criticizing it for weak guidelines. Still, it looks like the search giant is quite proud of the recent improvements as it decided to send a letter to the European Commission and inform it about the modifications.
