GoPros might be monopolizing the action camera market, but that doesn’t mean that the competition is not avidly trying to change this.

Drift Innovation is one such company that just rolled out the tiniest action camera from its lineup, called Stealth 2.

You might be aware that GoPro just launched its latest HERO4 Black Edition shooters, which are capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. But the devices are marketed with a $500 / €401 price tag.

The Stealth 2 offers action fun on the cheap

Drift Innovation takes a different route, and for starters, slashes the price of the HERO4 in half, so it is selling the Stealth 2 compact and lightweight action camera for just $250 / €200.

The new action cam from Drift Innovations measures 3.15 x 1.65 x 1.06 inches / 80 x 42 x 27 mm and weighs 3.41 ounces / 96 g, making it extremely portable and easy to carry.

The company claims that the new versions are 40% lighter than the previous generation, so even your kids can make use of them with the utmost ease.

The Stealth 2 is equipped with a 1/ 3-inch type sensor made by Aptina that can be used to shoot full HD videos at 30fps. So, from this standpoint, we might as well compare the new Drift action cam with the GoPro HERO4 Silver Edition. But there’s no touchscreen display on the Stealth 2.

The newcomer can also be used for still photography. To that end, the Stealth 2 can shoot 12MP photos and 2MP shots when in recording video mode.

Furthermore, it offers continuous shooting mode of up to 30fps plus a time-lapse photography mode with 3MP stills.

Stealth 2 takes advantage of 300-degree continuous rotatable lens that will allow users to mount the shooter in any position they can conjure.

The Stealth 2 can shoot for up to 3 hours

The camera’s battery is capable of sustaining a life cycle of up to three hours, so you’ll have plenty of time of shooting your adventures. Since the Stealth 2 has built-in Wi-Fi, it can be remotely controlled via your smartphone or tablet.

Users jumping onboard with Drift for this action companion will find that the camera has 256MB of internal memory, but this is not much, so you’ll need to expand via a 32GB microSD card.

The tiny camera is currently up for pre-order, but the good news is that the first items are going to start shipping out next week.
