Action Fraud, the Telecommunications UK Fraud Forum (TUFF) and Financial Fraud Action UK have joined their forces in a new campaign called “The Devil’s in Your Details”, purposed to reduce fraud and help raise awareness on the threats that lurk behind every received email or phone call.

In the past several months we have covered a lot of scams and techniques used by fraudsters whose sole purpose is to convince unsuspecting individuals to hand over sensitive information and even money.

The new campaign is meant not only to raise awareness, but also to show how the private and the public sector can work together for the greater good.

“The National Fraud Authority backed campaign is raising awareness of the importance of protecting personal information and aims to remind the public to check that who they share their details with is genuine, whether this be on the phone, in person or online,” reads the description of the campaign.

“The Devil's In Your Details campaign encourages consumers to suspect anyone or anything they are uncertain about, to keep asking questions and to challenge or end an engagement if it feels uncomfortable.”

The initiators of the campaign also released two great videos that satirically demonstrate the naivety of some people when it comes to handing over their most private data to an unknown individual.

Recent reports revealed that the UK government is losing millions because of fraud and tax evasion each year, and that’s why some important sums were invested in combating this phenomenon.

Yesterday we’ve learned that even Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) launched a new cyber security team to reduce tax evasion and counterattack criminal organizations that rely on cyber technologies.

Here are the videos made by Action Fraud in support of “The Devil’s in Your Details” campaign:
