14 DAY TRIAL // The Evil Within seems to have invigorated the horror genre in the gaming industry. Smaller titles like Amnesia series and a few more kept the flag up and continue to win lots of fans who did not think they would be able to play a horror game before.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to make a really decent horror game these days. The element of surprise and terror that you need to inflict into players is very hard to achieve especially when you offer your game to educated players who have played just about any decent horror game launched in the last couple of years.
Still, everyone is entitled to try their hand on a horror game and that’s exactly what Akçay Karaazmak is doing right now. “The Dark Inside Me” is a psychological horror adventure game, which is to be created by a one-man team.
The game is still in its early stages in development and will remain so unless the developer doesn’t manage to raise the amount needed to complete the project.
The Dark Inside Me is on Indiegogo for the next 30 days and Akçay Karaazmak hopes to raise $100,000 in order to be able to complete the game.
If the project is funded, the development will be handled by Blue Arc Studios, a company with studios in Turkey, UK and Ukraine.
Given the fact that this campaign benefits from “flexible funding,” any amount raised will reach the developer who will be using it to further add content to the game.
The game wants to blur the line between drama and horror
Horror fans may want to know that The Dark Inside Me is a 2.5D next-gen and unique 3rd-person point & click creepy adventure. The game is based on dynamic interactive scenario, so depending on what choices you took at some point, you will have a different gameplay experience.
According to Akçay Karaazmak, the main objective of The Dark Inside Me “is to reflect the real characteristic of a player through the game and see how far players would push their limits through the stages of the game.”
Puzzles are a part of the game as well and they have multiple solution, as in players can solve them in different ways, each way affecting the rest of the gameplay.
The Dark Inside Me wants to blur the line between drama and horror, madness and reality, darkness and light, love and hate, forgiveness and vengeance.
