The Nintendo DSi XL, known as the LL in Japan, seems to be a big hit in the Land of the Rising Sun, managing to move more than 100,000 units in the first week, even if the improvements it brings are rather minor. The device is set to arrive in the West in the first months of 2010.

On the hardware front, the XL version of the Nintendo DSi, which sports a bigger screen and an improved version to use the touch interface with, managed to sell 100,553 units in one week, showing that players are ready to get whatever innovation Nintendo ads to its handheld line of products.

The PlayStation 3, which had really good sales numbers in the last few weeks, has again offered a good performance to reach 34,752 units in one week, beating out the Nintendo Wii home gaming console, which moved just 32,844 consoles, to reach second spot in Japan.

The PlayStation Portable took fourth place, with just a few hundred units ahead of the normal DSi, which is in fifth. The DS Lite is still selling well enough to edge out the newly released but apparently unattractive PSP Go. The Xbox 360, with a little over 4,000 units sold, is just ahead of the PS2, which closes the chart.

When it comes to videogames, the best selling title has been Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, which came back to the top of the chart, with 55,361 units moved to players in one week. Second spot went to another of the games that has long had a presence in the top five, Tomodachi Collection for the DS, which managed to sell 49,308 copies, ahead of the Wii Fit Plus fitness title that sold close to 43,000. Inazuma Eleven 2: Kyoui no Shinryokusha from Level 5 is in fourth spot, while Taiko no Tatsujin Wii 2 from Namco Bandai is in fifth.
