Failure to communicate

Cakes in funny shapes and with special coloring are fun. Or at least they should be, provided that the people involved in making such a cake know one or two basic things about today's technology. And when it comes to special occasions, what better cake could anyone have than one with a representative picture made from delicious colored sugar, depicting a fun or memorable moment in the guy's life? Well, it looks like for some people, this was way easier said than done. And here's the story.

Some people wanted to make a nifty cake for their boss, and thought that a cake with a picture of him playing golf on it would be a good idea. Well, it is a good idea, especially since it looks like that boss-guy really liked golfing.

So the employees chose a good picture of their guy in the act of playing his favorite sport and had it stored on one of the planet's most easy-to-use and widespread gadgets, a USB stick. Then someone went and met a master cook and asked whether they could have their picture made on the face of the cake. Since the cook said it was OK, the guy added that the picture was to be found on the USB drive and left.

Now, we might never know who was really to blame in all this but fact is that the cake has finally turned to be something very different from what the employees could ever dream of. Namely, another cook, who was probably on duty for this unfortunate cake, went on and gave little thought to his fellow words; asked what the design for the cake was, the first guy probably gave an answer related to some USB stick. And USB stick it was... as the cook baked a very nice and large cake with a Lexar JumpDrive Trio shape on top of it, all in the not-that-happy black and grey colors of the original storage gadget.

We'd die to see the look on the face of the guy who came to get the cake from the bakery... but we can bet the moment was truly priceless, especially when the genius cook was told about the course his actions should have followed. As for the employees and the boss, it's not clear whether a new cake was baked to live up to the initial expectations or they just brought the USB one to the party and all laughed to tears. And this story could end with the Two Stupid Dogs cartoon line: “Cute... but WRONG!” Bon Appetite!
