The influence of companies from that nation is growing fast

Companies from China are well positioned to gain a controlling role in how the technology industry worldwide will move forward.

Despite previous attempts at making a name for themselves, Chinese tech companies didn't really become famous until Lenovo broke the ice. Sure, lots of things were manufactured there, but the inventors and such came from elsewhere.

Now, smartphone and tablet makers from China are influencing the IT market more than before, and their role is growing.

According to the latest research, 330 million, or 34.3%, of the smartphones shipped globally in the first half of 2013 came from China makers. That's a 48.9% on-year rise.

Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, Coolpad, Gionee and Xiaomi (essentially China's Apple) have also been, individually, gaining fame.

Now we just have to see if companies like Apple and Samsung can look away from their feuds to notice the rising threat.
