Ulysse Nardin, a Swiss watch manufacturer, recently decided to enter the mobile phone business and unveiled to the world its first luxury smartphone, which comes under the name of Chairman. And while the exterior of the device is less likely to strike us, its specification list seems to be rather impressive.

The new Chairman mobile phone comes with 2.8-inch capacitive multi-touch screen, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper and Wi-Fi connectivity, while also being both a smartphone and a mechanical watch. In addition, the handset also sports a fingerprint scanner, which is used to unlock the device.

Yet this is not all that the new Chairman is about. The device comes to the market as the first hybrid-powered smartphone, due to the fact that it sports both a usual rechargeable battery, as well as a watch-like kinetic rotor system. While on the move, it is able to passively recharge the battery, in a similar way a wrist watch would do. Yet there are no details at the moment on how much power the kinetic system is able to produce.

Ulysse Nardin also announced that its new Chairman was set to become available in several color schemes, including Stealth Black, Rose Gold, Rose Gold & Blue, Rose Gold & Steel and Steel & Blue. For what it's worth, the handset can be considered fancy, fashionable and pretentious.

The manufacturer hasn't unveiled any details on the price tag that the new Chairman smartphone would feature, yet, given the device's looks and features, we should not expect it to be near cheap. But the consumer segment the device is aimed at probably won't care about the cost it comes at. More information on the new Chairman smartphone as well as on how it can be purchased can be found on the manufacturer's site.
