An invention from Jianqing Lan

The chairs we have today are so customizable that you often need a manual to know how to sit down. But the inventor Jianqing Lan was still not satisfied. He thought that the chairs' ergonomics still lacked a fine detail: being gentle on your testes. His invention, suggestively named "convertible seat with contoured-front for localized body heat dispersion and pressure reduction", aims at solving this problem.

When a man is sitting on a chair his balls rest flattened in an unnatural elevated position; the balls would like to hang on freely but the usual shape of any chair prevents them from doing this. According to the inventor, this can be particularly uncomfortable especially if you spend many hours on a chair - for example at work.

So, Lan thought about creating an open area specially designed for the comfort of the testes. "The open area is located under the body part around the testes of a seated male person so that the dispersion of body heat from that area via air circulation will not be blocked by the seat base, and at the same time, the pressure between the testes area and the seat base will be reduced or eliminated, thereby improving the physiological condition for sperm, and in turn, may increase sperm activity and may reduce the possibility of infertility," writes the patent. "A mobile recessed part that can be moved in and out of the open area in the seat base makes the seat convertible."

Besides removing the mechanical strain imposed on the testes by usual chairs the invention also improves the ventilation conditions: "Heat from body part around testes can be dispersed through airflow or can be transferred to heat conducting material (such as aluminum) and dispersed through the other side (underneath). Adding cooling fins underneath can assist heat dispersion."
