If sales aren't good enough, Harmonix will stop producing additional DLC packs

Everything that involves the Beatles is unique as if it acts in a world of itself. The DLC packs for The Beatles Rock Band are no exception and it seems that the work that needs to be done to create one is far greater than that required for any other updates. Harmonix will continue to provide downloadable content for the game for the next three months, but from there on it remains to be seen. If the sales live up to the expectations, the packs will continue to emerge, but if the fans don't show enough support, the Beatles will stop progressing.

"It's not like Rock Band where we wait for the masters to come in and just author them ... its like, send people to Abbey Road, use the original tape, separate them out," John Drake, Harmonix representative, told BBPS. Besides the actual songs, Harmonix also had to develop the original dreamscapes that have become a trademark for The Beatles Rock Band. According to Drake, a new DLC costs “thousands of dollars.” "If they sell well, we'll have a lot more content," he said. It's time for the fans to step up to the plate and show just how much they're willing to support the game.

So far, Harmonix have little to fear as their content for Beatles Rock Band is getting plenty of attention from gamers. The Xbox 360 exclusive "All You Need Is Love" has proven to be the fastest-selling downloadable song for the entire Rock Band series. Even more, the game itself is expected to outsell its direct rival, Guitar Hero 5, even with the Guitar Hero: Van Halen extra, so it seems right now they're definitely the favorite on the rhythm game market.

The remaining songs from the Abbey Road album will come out as DLC on October 20 while Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band will become available in November. Rubber Soul will follow in December, and if all goes well we'll get to see additional songs in the future.
