How does it sound like?

Gizmodo have published a picture of the latest subwoofer from Audiovox, codenamed FPS10. Nothing that interesting I might say if the PFS10 wasn't a weird unit, meaning a flat subwoofer. As weird as it may sound, it looks more and more like subwoofers no longer have to be the immense, bulky units giving us a serious headache as we have to find a proper place for the in our room.[admark=1]

The Audiovox FPS10 isn't the only shallow-depth subwoofer; practice has proved that these units can actually develop a very serious LF response, suitable for all purposes from distributed audio to Hi-Fi home cinema installations for discerning audio enthusiasts. In-wall, in-ceiling or in-floor bass units are more and more seen throughout homes, presentation centers, museums and the like - so many people using them can't be that wrong, I'd say.

Back to the Audiovox FPS10, we're dealing with a rather "discrete" cabinet sporting 31.5"x4.5"x15.2" (756mmx108mmx365mm) dimensions, easy to be stowed away from sight behind other larger cabinetry, piece of furniture such as large couches/sofas or curtains. The enclosure is sealed and it runs on a 2-driver architecture; one actively-driven woofer with a 10" diameter, air-coupled to a 12" passive radiator for greater SPL and minimized distortions.

This neat subwoofer can handle as much as 225W RMS, but it is capable of a tremendous 900W dynamic short-term peak that will simply blast you off your seat as you'll be watching your favorite intense-action movie. Furthermore, the Audiovox FPS10 comes with a two-way state-aware RF remote control for easier and convenient operation.

No detailed specs or pricing info have been released yet, but the big question is how does the Audiovox FPS10 sound?
