This year's Computex show was the place for a number of significant product releases, among which there was also the highly anticipated new lineup of ASUS Eee PCs. Prompted by ASUS' decision of finally going official with the new lineup of sub-notebooks, a number of other manufacturers, including Acer, have brought to light their own versions of netbooks.

As we told you a while back, during the Computex trade show in Taipei, Acer went official with its Aspire One, which aimed to provide users with an alternative to ASUS' Eee PC and MSI's Wind. Back then, almost everything was made available, from pictures to the specifications list. Unfortunately, there were no official details concerning the price tag of an Aspire One, which left more than plenty of room for suppositions. Apparently, the speculations were partially correct - at least according to the UMPC Portal, which reports that the Aspire One has started showing up in price comparison engines in Germany.

According to the above-mentioned website, the "high-end" model costs 399 Euros, a price for which users will get 80 GB of storage space and 1 GB of RAM on a Linux-powered Aspire One. The lower model is going to feature 8 GB of storage space, 512 MB of RAM memory, and will also come with a Linux operating system. This version is going cost 329 Euros and is 50 Euros over the price of the Eee PC 701 4G. In the meanwhile, Acer's top model is 40 Euros less expensive than the Eee PC 900.

Acer has approached an entirely different perspective when creating the Aspire One, as compared to the Wind and the Eee PC. Its offer might be considered better by users because it brings a lower-sized (compared with HP2133 and MSI Wind), lower priced netbook, which might even become a big hit, even given the other popular netbooks. Unfortunately, the Acer Aspire One is also based, just like its competitors, on the Intel Atom processor, which means that users will have to wait some more until they can get their hands on one.
