When it comes to gaming laptops, those looking to purchase such a machine, have a wide array of choices coming from the likes of Eurocom, MSI, Alienware or Razer.

Although Alienware and Eurocom make worthy gaming products, there’s still the bulkiness factor to consider, especially for those craving a real mobile experience. Considering the Razer Blade might be the better option if you have your heart set out on something sleeker.

Nevertheless, Gigabyte seems to have beaten Razer in this department, with the introduction of their latest gaming masterpieces, the Aorus X3 line-up.

The folks of Engadget spotted the device on the grounds at the Computex 2014 trade-show and managed to do a quick comparison.

According to the producing company, the Aorus X3 is the world’s most powerful and lightest gaming laptop in its class. The notebook bears a 13-inch / 13.9-inch form factor, so the bold statement might as well turn out to be true.

Back in March, MSI touted the GS70 Stealth Pro as the world’s thinnest gaming notebook, but the machine arrives with a more spacious 17-inch screen.

Going back to the Aorus, the laptop weighs around 4.12 lbs / 1.8kg so it’s just a little bit lighter than the Razer Blade and its 4.47 lbs / 2.02 kg.

Gigabytes awards two screen options, so interested customers can opt between having a 13.3-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution or a 13.9-inch display with 3200 x 1800 resolution on top.

The device runs on an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor clocked between 2.5 and 3.5GHz. 8GB of RAM are offered onboard, but there’s an extra slot for those who want to throw in another 8GB.

Of course, the high-quality display and sleek figure of the devices are to be considered major positive points, but there’s another neat little aspect you should know about.

The Aorus can be hooked up to an external display and be made to output content at up to 4K resolution.

As for the GPU department, we should expect only the best from this little device. And truly, the new Aorus takes advantage of NVIDIA’s latest graphics card, the GeForce GTX 870M with 6GB of GDDR5 memory plus a pair of SSDs.

The device also has dedicated macro keys, Wi-Fi and a 74Whr battery, but we’re not told how much actual juice power one would be getting out of it.

Gigabyte plans to make the laptop available in Q3 for the price tag of $2,099 / €1,536.
